You arrive in a neighbourhood where you know nobody, carrying nothing, into an apartment that isn't yours. There's a map, there are schedules, and there are people with their own routines. You can work at the corner shop and put up with the owner's son. You can rent the empty unit down the block and turn it into a massage parlour — paying the deposit, the rent and the bills, with the real risk of losing it. And there are the neighbours, who aren't icons with an affection bar: they open the door to you or shut it, depending on how you treat them.​
